Knowing Christ Personally
The Bible contains both bad news and good news. The bad news is something about you. The good news is something about God. Let's look at the bad news first.
The Bad News Is...
The Bible says we are all sinners. Romans 3:23 says: "For all have sinned and fall short
of the glory of God." In other words, God is perfect and we aren't. It doesn't matter how
religiously we live, how good we are, or how we work, we cannot meet God's standard.
The penalty for sin is death. Romans 6:23 says: "For the wages of sin is death." Wages are what we earn. The Bible says that through our sin we have earned death and eternal separation from God.
The Good News Is...
Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while
we were still sinners, Christ died for us." The Bible says that Christ came into the world, and took
the sin that was causing our death, placed it on Himself - and died in our place.
We can be saved through faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. "Faith" means trust. Putting your faith in Christ means trusting Him to save you - not trusting your church membership, your good life, or your baptism to get you to heaven, but trusting Christ and Him alone.
Is there anything keeping you from trusting Christ today? If you have decided to put your trust in Christ, why not pray and tell Him? (He is alive and is listening!)
"Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I believe Christ died for me and rose from the grave. Right now, I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior. Thank you for the forgiveness and everlasting life I now have. In Jesus' name, Amen."
If you have trusted Christ today, we would love to pray and talk with you.
